Hickory law firm welcomes new associate

HICKORY — The law office of Young, Morphis, Bach & Taylor, one of Catawba County’s oldest and leading law firms, has the pleasure of bringing on Claude (Clay) Abernethy as a new associate.

Claude S. Abernethy, IV was recently sworn in to the North Carolina Bar by Judge Sherri Elliott.

Clay is a 2022 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. Having recently been sworn in, he plans to focus his practice on real estate, corporate and partnership tax, and estate planning law. Clay also earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Appalachian State University in 2016 with degrees in Economics and International Business. Prior to attending law school, Clay worked for The Vanguard Group in Charlotte as a financial advisor.

Clay is thrilled to return home to Catawba County. When he’s not practicing law, Clay enjoys baking, backpacking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and playing disk golf.
