Veteran attorney joins Hickory firm

HICKORY—The Law Firm of Young, Morphis, Bach & Taylor, LLP, announced that J. Steven Brackett has joined their firm. “We are very excited to have Steve and his staff join us and look forward to the benefits this move will offer our clients” said Wayne M. Bach, Senior Partner.

“As we look forward to celebrating almost 70 years of service to our community and region, this expansion will allow our firm to meet another milestone in its strategic growth plan and leverage its strengths so that we can continue to offer our clients the highest level of representation. With this addition, our firm is opening up a whole new service line which will better enable us to provide our clients and their families expertise in a multi-disciplinary setting.”

Brackett said he and his staffers are excited to join the men and women of Young, Morphis, Bach & Taylor, LLP in offering a wider range of legal services to its clients and the community.

Brackett was a 1970 honor graduate from the Citadel. He was a three year football letterman.  He received a Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University in 1973 and was a recipient of the Horace R. Kornegay scholarship at Wake Forest.  As a trial lawyer, he has appeared before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Western and Middle Districts for North Carolina, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina, the North Carolina Supreme Court, the North Carolina Court of Appeals and more than 35 North Carolina Superior and District Courts.

Brackett was a charter member of the board of directors for the Catawba County Guardian ad Litem program, past member of the board of directors for the Sipe’s Orchard Home (a transitional living facility for homeless youths) and the executive board of directors for the Piedmont Council, Boy Scouts of America. He is a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America.

Young, Morphis, Bach & Taylor will be expanding its new office footprint and facilities in the Viewmont neighborhood in Hickory.
