Young, Morphis, Bach & Taylor, LLP seeks an experienced Litigation Associate. Candidates should have substantial interpersonal and client communication skills, exceptional analytical skills, considerable organizational abilities, and work well with a team in a fast-paced demanding environment.
Anticipated Responsibilities
The position offers a wide range of challenging litigation work. This associate attorney will develop strategies for litigated matters, including commercial, regulatory, motor vehicle negligence, construction defect, insurance coverage matters, and other general civil litigation. This associate attorney will:
- Manage various phases of litigation for assigned cases;
- Manage all phases of discovery;
- Appear before state and federal courts;
- Perform legal research and writing assignments;
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses and briefs;
- Conduct depositions, analyze facts, and make legal arguments; and
- Report case updates to managing attorney and clients.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from accredited law school;
- Licensed to practice law in North Carolina;
- 2-4 years of experience in the area of civil litigation;
- Commitment to excellence, maintaining strong ethics and integrity;
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex legal and business documents;
- Significant experience and developed skills in the areas of pre-trial, trial, arbitration and post-litigation;
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize project requirements;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
- Proficient in the use of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
